Zeitgeist and the month of December…

makes

I am planning to blog through the month of December, you know one of those blog everyday kind of clubs.  I like the idea of them a lot – though I’m not promising anything spectacular, because I tend to get sidetracked a lot, but I am planning to blog at least a little.

I wasn’t even going to bother attempting another one of these things – the dismal failures and the guilt, the added stress from the guilt, who needs it really!?!

I suppose if I actually made it all the way through I’d feel pretty awesome but it’s all good.

Actually, what most excited me about this blog all the month thing was the theme – Zeitgeist – isn’t that just one of the coolest words ever? It just sounds cool.  I am thinking of adopting it as my theme for 2011 – I’m not joking, I like it that much.

In case you don’t know (or haven’t googled a defintion yet) here’s an overview of the meaning from wikipedia:

is "the spirit of the times" or "the spirit of the age." Zeitgeist is the general cultural, intellectual, ethical, spiritual, and/or political climate within a nation or even specific groups, along with the general ambience, morals, sociocultural direction, and mood associated with an era.

Okay, I haven’t tested where all those other hyperlinks go, but I was too lazy to edit them out.  Isn’t that just cool – basically the theme is to express you – your life and all that.  Isn’t that what most of try to do anyway? Express some piece of the life that we are living?

I just dig how it sounds and I’m going to make a more concentrated effort to think about what truly represents ME. What makes me the me that I am.

So, in that spirit, here’s a photo, because I haven’t been posting enough of them lately:

I may have already posted this one, but I love it.  It is from my trip to the San Juan Islands (I really haven’t bee taking many photos).  I love the moodiness of it.  I love the overcast clouds, the soft light.  So the opposite of the desert where everything seems washed out most days from the glare of the bright, bright sunlight.

But, I always find contrasts interesting, especially of the opposite kind.

So, here’s to some more posts and some more pondering of the zeitgeist of it all.
